Viterra Participates in Official Opening for China Crush Plant
Karl Gerrand, COO Processing, was in China recently to commemorate the opening of Viterra’s new canola crushing facility in the province of Guangxi, South China at the port of Fangchenggang.
Viterra customers, employees and local government officials were also at Fangchenggang to celebrate the new facility. In his remarks to the audience Karl said, “This is a very proud day for Viterra as we continue to expand our value-added processing footprint, and strengthen our presence in China and Southeast Asia. We are extremely pleased to have entered into this joint venture with our valued partners in Fangchenggang, and we look forward to creating strong relationships and growth opportunities for all of our stakeholders.”
Viterra's new joint venture in China further extends and diversifies the company’s processing capabilities in a region that is experiencing significant demand for canola oil and canola meal-based proteins.
The facility operates as a joint venture between Viterra and Fangchengang Port Investment Holding Co., Ltd., and is expected to crush 2,000 metric tonnes of canola per day, or approximately 680,000 tonnes annually.
